Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is the beginning level of certification in EMS, you must successfully complete and become certified at this level before you can move to the next level. It concentrates on the basics of patient assessment, vital signs, information gathering, body systems etc., This level also allows for assisting patients with their own prescribed medications.

  • Advanced EMT (AEMT) is the next level of certification. This level expands on patient assessment, and pathophysiology. You will learn to start IV’s, injections, drug dosages, advanced airway. In some areas AEMT is the highest level of care.

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians is a national certifying body that allows your certification to be valid across state lines through reciprocity, as long as that state is a National Registry state. Currently most states are National Registry states

EMT, AEMT and Paramedic certifications must be renew every two years. It requires a certain amount of continuing education per two year periods.

EMT- 40 hours

AEMT- 50 hours

Paramedic- 60 hours

If your certification has expired, you are required to take a refresher course, do the psychomotor skills test and the cognitive test in order to get your certification reinstated.

We offer Refresher courses every two months March-September. During recertification periods September-March, we schedule refreshers every month. During February & March we schedule two classes each month.

Refresher courses are 3 or 4 consecutive days depending on your certification level and include AHA BLS renewal. Paramedics will include AHA ACLS renewal as well. (You must have a current BLS and or ACLS certification in order to participate in an AHA renewal course)

Yes! You must have a laptop, computer or tablet with reliable internet service. All assignments, homework, quizzes & tests are done online through JBLearning

Once the course is successfully completed, you will take the National Registry psychomotor skills exam. This is included in the course tuition. You will then be approved on the National Registry website, (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians ). You will now be eligible to take the National Registry cognitive exam (not included in tuition) for certification.

The EMT and Accelerated courses are the exact same certification, but accelerated courses condense the learning into a shorter period of time. Regular EMT courses run approximately 28 weeks (6 months) Accelerated courses run approximately 16 weeks (3 months)

We have a couple of ways you can pay for EMT or AEMT courses. Once you have paid the deposit, the remaining balance will be divided into 3 equal payments that will be due every two weeks once class has started. By the end of the sixth week the course must be paid in full or you will not be able to remain in the course.

We are also a training provider for Workforce Connections, they are a state, grant funded organization. If you qualify, they will pay for your course and books. You must apply with them prior to registration. To apply, click on their logo on our website and follow the instructions. Once you qualify, they will request a proposal and we will register you for the course.

No textbooks are not included in the tuition. We use the following textbooks and Premier access to JBLearning.
